18.5 tall, 17” wide and 8” deep, accompanied by a custom stand

Provenance: Ian West, England (1924-2015, collected late 1940s from an antique shop in Crawford St, London for £36);

Edward “Ted” Blackmore, England (1898-1983, collected late 1940s, purchased by West for Blackmore);

Stanley Marcus, TX (1905-2002; deaccessioned on December 2, 1998);

Dr. Robert Pamplin Jr. (collected circa 2000 - deaccessioned May 19, 2023).

A vest constructed out of native-tanned hide and trimmed with commercial cloth. The vest is fully decorated on the outside with sinew-sewn seed beads in which pictorials sit on a white lazy-stitched ground. The pictorials consist of four men, two of which are seen in the lower register on horseback. The men are dressed in full regalia, to include headdresses and coup sticks. The verso side is decorated in a similar fashion.
