A very rare Maya stone Pre-Classic mask made from translucent alabaster. It is beautifully carved with a heavy brow, deep recessed eyes and age lines under his cheeks. The cinnabar on the piece makes a reddish glow when subjected to a light source. The conically drilled holes on the temples were for attachment. It is most likely the depiction of a Maya ruler.
