Basalt sphere with flattened bottom. Victoria Ginn, photographer and author of "The Awakening Heart" (1977), a photographic essay of the Southern Highlands, said of the acquisition of this stone: "In 1978, I found myself in the far reaches of the Ialibu valley, in the Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea...I noticed that stone objects shaped by hand, or other stone implements, were a feature of the male culture in the village I stayed in. While I slayed there I photographed skull stones and fertility stones belonging to other males". Rare and amazingly beautiful!
