A highly important contemporary hand colored engraving being the first depiction of Virginia and North Carolina native Americans. This work illustrated the first eye-witness pictorial record of the American Southeast. Thomas Hariot wrote the text while John White was the artist and also part of the Roanoke expedition where he wrote and illustrated his account from direct observation. Theodor de Bry was a prominent Flemish engraver and publisher who created the plates for this monumental work of several volumes published overtime between 1590 and 1608, this is the second Latin edition published 150 years after the Gutenberg Bible. Extremely rare and never seen. Beyond rare!
