Rare Zuni Head Pot - SOLD
New Mexico
1850 - 1860
Height 6.8” Diameter 6.5"
Provenance: Private collection Philadelphia
Without a doubt the rarest Zuni object we have ever handled. This piece most likely represents a pony soldier and has two hand-drilled pieces of turquoise as earrings. We have shown this to two museum curators and they said they know of no other extant examples. In superb untouched condition and beyond rare with a wonderful warm patina.
